The Naming Ceremony
The canoe is named Kwa Kwem Tn: Eagles Circling Above. The Naming Ceremonies took place at the Maritime Museum on April 28, 2000, Vancouver, BC.

The crew arrive at the Maritime Museum for the Naming Ceremonies.

Kwa Kwem Tn is joined by a sister vessel from the Tsleil Waututh Nation as they arrive for the Naming Ceremonies.

Curtis Cameron strikes up a song as part of the Ceremonies. They request permission to land on Squamish Territory and are welcomed in a traditional way.

Bob Baker (Saapluk) sings a welcoming song. Media were on hand to witness the memorable event that was attended by event along with various dignitaries. The Canoe is named Kwa Kwem Tn.

Kwa Kwem Tn was brushed by Cedar Branches. The most memorable moment came with the appearance of two eagles as they circled above. Kwa Kwem Tn in the Squamish tongue means "Eagles Circling Above".
